  • Reviewed VPN guard as a wordpress services provider myself.

    I have been working in WordPress services and security for over eight years and have been looking for a good free VPN and proxy blocking plugin that actually fits my style of work. I trust their detection system based on vpnapi.io, which has proven to be reliable for the time I tested it out, and I have not experienced any downtime or performance issues during or after installing it, even on WooCommerce websites. From a security perspective, the targeting is what stood out to me. Instead of blocking traffic site wide, you can protect specific weak points like login, checkout, account pages, or URLs and post types. This matters in practice, because we all know that the majority of wp attacks originate from third party integrations or known vulnerable endpoints rather than the entire site, and setting up a series of restrictions site-wide proves to be somewhat resource consuming. So isolation and targeting is good. I also reviewed the plugin code in the repository and it is clean and written according to WordPress. It works well alongside other security plugins I use that do not have such features and it does not really try to replace them. It really feels like a tool built by someone who understands how WordPress sites are actually attacked and maintained. It also does not leave any cookies for the visitors. 1,000 API requests per day is also enough for me.
