Had to install SMTP plugin for this to work
Emails were being blocked as spam, I guess. Installed Easy WP SMTP to send email via a specified SMTP host and emails were then able to go through. Glad it worked as it's a good plugin that handles a "hole" in WooCommerce emailing, IMO.

Thank you for your very useful plugin. All working with Wordpress 5.0.2, Woocommerce 3.5.3 in Jan 2019. Might be nice to update the "hasn't been tested in last 2 years" as gives the impression it might not work and it does.
